FRESHMEN ACADEMY
The Freshman Academy is designed around the small learning community approach.
The Freshmen Academy prepares students to take on leadership characteristics in order to successfully graduate high school as well as to equip the students with skills needed for the workforce. The Freshman Academy is the baseline for the Wall-to-Wall Academy design at the school.
The academy will provide content and education from a variety of coursework based on leadership skills.
Students will be required to take a leadership class in order to meet the criteria of the Academy. Depending on the student's journey prior to the Freshman Academy, the students may have an opportunity to take other electives. Students will also learn to work in small collaboration groups that will be embedded in all curriculum. The curriculum applies project-based learning and integrates literacy instruction through an extended inquiry process that simulates professional knowledge and workplace behavior.
Academy students will learn leadership skills as well as workforce preparation. This provides the students with an opportunity to gain real-world skills that will prepare our students with great tools for future success.
